Comparative Analysis among Temporary and Permanent School Teachers with Respect to Job Satisfaction, Job Commitment and Job Performance
Abstract
In the light of changing environmental and organizational trends towards privatization and increasing job insecurity, it is important to know how security and insecurity in job affects the teaching attitude of teachers. This study is an empirical research designed to discover the relationship between Job security/Insecurity and Job Satisfaction, Job Commitment and Job Performance. A sample of 204 school teachers (105– Permanent and 99- Temporary) working across Northern region of India( Chandigarh, Mohali , Panchkula) was selected. Use of Statistical tools like Mood’s Median test, Regression Analysis and T- Testare used to find differences in the Job Satisfaction, Job Commitment and Job Performance of temporary and permanent teachers. Also differences with regards to Recognition, Development and Growth Opportunities, Work Culture, Work Life Balance, Authority and Autonomy, Initiative, Job Anxiety, Role Ambiguity, Withdrawal Behaviour, Workload, Job Stress, Supervisory Support, Participation in decision making and Organisational Citizenship behaviour are tested. Results of the study conclude that differences are observed in the treatment of teachers whereas no differences are observed in the efforts of temporary teachers in terms of job performance, Initiative, Workload. Also significant differences are observed in Job Satisfaction and Job Commitment among temporary and permanent teachers.
