The Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Among Construction Workers During The Covid-19 Crisis
Personal Protective Equipment commonly known as PPE in construction industry is an equipment worn by workers to reduce any exposure to danger that will cause both fatal and non-fatal injuries at workplace. Each worker takes the responsibility of their own safety by making sure that they get the right PPE and wear it correctly which is provided by the management. The PPE includes hard hat, goggles, face shields, hand gloves, respiratory protection, hearing protection, rubber boots with steel toes, welding PPE, etc. which are used by plumbers, carpenters, iron workers, masonry and concrete workers respectively. The coming of Covid-19 brings a lot of challenges on how to manage PPE in the construction industry. This paper discusses the guidelines recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for construction employers and workers.
