Paper Title
Influence of microfinance credits on Women’s Payment for Health care services in Edo State Nigeria
Abstract
The paper examines the influence of microfinance credits on women’s payment for healthcare service. Questionnaire was administered to 750 purposively selected females’ microfinance clients, while qualitative data were elicited from 14 In-depth Interviews (IDIs) with union representatives, 20 Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) with microfinance officials and 8 Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with clients. Findings revealed that microfinance contributed to women’s sources of payment and payment for health care services. Qualitative data also revealed that its influence on payment for healthcare service is better felt after loans have been paid up. Adequate funding and health integration programmes are recommended for microfinance influence to be better felt by the poor in their health and payment for health care services.
