Modeling of a Solar Still Assisted by a Rough Rotating Drum
Abstract
In sunny rural areas, where there is high demand on water, solar stills are considered a promising option to obtain fresh water. Solar stills are characterized by their low cost and simplicity in design, however low water yields. This work represents a new method to increase the solar still’s water yields. A rough surface rotating drum is integrated within the solar still system. This method allows maintaining the low cost and simple design of the systems while enhancing the daily water yield. A model was developed to predict the water yield of the proposed system.
