Master Data Management Maturity Assessment: A Case Study of E&P Company in Indonesia

Abstract
The volume of data is rapidly growing nowadays, whether it is coming from the internet or in an organization. Velocity and accuracy of the extracted data to gain a valuable information become the key factors for each organization to compete. A scattered data sources could slower the data consolidation. Master data management (MDM) implementation is the solution to have a faster and accurate information extraction. MDM ensure the quality and synchronization of business data achieve the organizations operational and strategic business objectives. To keep the MDM system in a good shape, an organization need to know the maturity level of their system. In this research, a maturity assessment of MDM will be done in one of oil and gas companies in Indonesia using the Master Data Management Maturity Model (MD3M) by Spruit and Pietzka (2015). The result of the assessment is found that the maturity level of exploration data management in PT XYZ is 1. The assessment shows that 66.15% of capabilities already implemented in the organization. However, documentations like policies and procedures should be developed in order to improve the current maturity level of master data management.
