The Needs Assessment of Using Fang’s Historical Resources for Teaching Local History
The purposes of this research were 1) to study the needs assessment of Fang’s historical resources 2) to prioritize the content of the Fang’s historical resources 3) to determine the guidelines to organize the learning of the Fang’s historicalresources. By using mixed method research methodology. The samples used for collecting qualitative data were using purposive sampling method by selecting three historical experts in Fang, Mae Ai, Chaiprakarn districts who were working in the art and cultural council of local administration with semi-structural interview. In quantitative design, the population were 1,884 teachers of school in Fang , Mae Ai and Chaiprakarn districts.The sample were collected by cluster random sampling. The sample size was determined by Taro Yamane’s formula. In this data collection, data were collected from the sample consisted of 423 people. Data collection tools consist of interview forms and questionnaires which the researcher created. The statistics used for data analysis were mean (x ̅), percentage, standard deviation (S.D.) and content analysis. The results were showed that; 1) The needs assessment of Fang’s historicalresource is for tourism (x ̅ = 4.340, S.D. = 0.629). 2) Prioritize the content of the Fang’s historical resourceis a monument to theKing and Queen of Fang (x ̅ = 4.085, S.D. = 0.950).3) The guidelines for organizing the learning of the Fang’s historical resources, showed that using the field trip activity (x ̅ = 4.634, S.D = 0.597). Using survey research in communities changes with inquiry method (x ̅ = 4.479, S.D. = 0.463).The competency goals for the learners to have their own realization in local and history (x ̅ = 4.813, S.D. = 0.425). And the learning objectives should be established as a club to promote their knowledge and service the tourism (x ̅ = 4.213, S.D. = 0.651).
