Paper Title
Fostering Student Engagement in The Online Classroom: Does Student’s Age Make a Difference?
Abstract
It is a growing trend in the United States that more and more middle-aged learners pursue post-secondary education degrees online. These age-cohort students face with certain needs and challenges after a big gap in learning. This empirical study intends to explore student engagement and student satisfaction among older adult learners from an online university. The results from this study are consistent with several previous research findings. The limitations and future research are also discussed. Additionally, this study presents several practical implications for institutions, educators, and course designers. With this significant upward trend, universities should continue to innovate ways that meet these older students’ needs, help them overcome any challenges, and ensure that they will complete their degree successfully.
