Literature Survey on Gray hole Detection Schemes in Mobile ad-hoc Networks
Abstract
Mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is foreseen to play a significant role in ubiquitous network based on its ability to support mobility without depending on infrastructure-based design, dynamic topology and decentralized environment. While in one hand MANET is presenting all advantages that cannot be found in wired network, in the other hand, it is conversely bringing certain Issues. These advantages turn to make MANET more exposed to diverse categories of network attacks. In MANET, the nodes perform the function of the router and host at the same time meaning the nodes stand capable of conveying the packet from the sender to the intended receiver. There are diverse categories of secured routing protocols outlined for MANETs, but no protocol that can fully secure the MANET from different types of denial of services (DoS) attack such as Gray hole attack. A Gray hole is a practice where the malevolent node impartial drops packets selectively. This research paper discusses various types of techniques outlined by researchers to detect Gray hole attack in MANET.
