Paper Title
Relation between Air Quality and Income: The Settlement Intention of Intercity Migrants in China

Abstract
In the process of rapid urbanization, the problem of air pollution faced by Chinese cities is becoming increasingly serious. This paper uses the 2014-2015 China Migrants Dynamic Survey data to measure the urban air quality with the average annual concentration of PM2.5, and studies the impacts of both air quality and income on the intention of Chinese urban migrants to settle down. The results of this study showthat (1) poor air quality will reduce the settlement intention of migrants, but migrants pay more attention to income levels when they make settlement decisions; (2) air quality has no significant impact on the settle-ment intention of migrants in eastern China, while migrants in the central and western regions are faced with a trade-off decision between income and air quality; (3) migrants tend to earn higher incomes by enduring lower air quality in second-tier cities than in third-tier cities; about 99.98% of economically-oriented migrants value income over air quality, and only About 73.58% of the non-economically-oriented migrants value income over air quality.
