The Degree at which the Teachers of Upper Basic Stage Students Practice Active Teaching and the Obstacles of Implementing it in Public Schools in Al-Tafilah Governorate

Abstract
The latest years of the twentieth century witnessed the emergence ofseveral new trends that had a positive impact on the educational processprovided to students at schools, which included transferring from the role ofthe teacher as a dictator who only transfers knowledge to the students into adirector and an organizer who guides the educational process. The mostimportant trend is related to active learning which gained an increasinginterest at the beginning of the 21st century, where several factorscontributed to its emergence and dissemination, including the knowledgerevolution witnessed by the educational sectors in all the societies and all thedomains.Several researches and studies highlighted the importance of activelearning in the educational process, such as (Al-Odwan and Al-Dawoud,2016) and (Al-Tantawi, 2013) which suggested that it represents a moderntype of the learning strategies. It is based on self-activity as well as positiveinvolvement of the learner through which the learner does the research usinga set of activities and processes, such as observation, measurement, readingdata, citing hypotheses as well as inference in order to achieve the desiredinformation by him/ her-self under the supervision and evaluation of theteacher.Active teaching emphasizes the meaningful and sustainable learning thatexists permanently in the current as well as life of the learner. It is theproductive and creative learning that is characterized by depth and investsthe underlying potentials and energy of the student (Al-Heilah, 2016).
