Roles of Garuda Contigent (Konga) in the World Peace Mission

Abstract
The Garuda contingent (Konga) is an army consisting of the Indonesian National Armed Forces which is assigned to world peace. The initial idea of the emergence of this force was due to a conflict in the Middle East on July 26, 1956. Indonesia has sent the Garuda I Mission to the Garuda XXVI-C2 Mission. According to data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, March 21, 2016, Indonesia became the 10th largest contributor to UN peacekeeping forces from 124 countries. At present, the Indonesian government has assigned 2,843 Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and Indonesian Police (POLRI) personnel on duty at the 10 UN Peacekeeping Maintenance Missions.This research uses a qualitative method with case study approach .The Reseachersanalized the roles Indonesian peacekeepers to conflict countries was able to enhance the image of Indonesia as a sovereign country and a reflection of the idealism of the Indonesian nation to participate in creating world peace as stated in the Preamble of the 1945 Constitution.
