Women�s Representation In The Parliament Across 35 European Countries

Abstract
Political realities on a global level show a definite gender gap in terms of political representatives between men and women. Nowadays, we can observe this gender gap varying across countries and continents. By regional averages, we can see that the Nordic countries are the most righteous toward women � known in literature as �Norden � the passion for equality�, as the proportion of women in these Parliaments is more than 40 per cent. What we are investigating in the present article is whether or not the natural democratic evolution of the country, the electoral system, or the gender gap in educational and economic attainment has an impact on the number of female representatives in national legislative bodies.
