Female Boxers in Thailand and their Opportunity to have Boxing Match on the National Stage

Abstract
This research objective is to study on the female boxers in Thailand and their opportunity to have a boxing match on the national stage same as Male boxer. To accomplish the objectives, qualitative research was applied. Data were collected from 5 boxing camp owners in Bangkok selected by purposive sampling. These boxing camps owners need to arrange female boxers to fight at least 1 time per month. To collected data, a combination of semi-structure interviews and participant observation were used to explore the opportunity and obstacle that make female boxing in Thailand not as popular as it should be and most of the woman boxing match was for show to foreigner in provincial stage. Research result found that it would be difficult to support female boxers to have boxing match on the national stage as Thai tradition which not allow female boxer's fight on the boxing ring as they believe that boxing ring is a sacred place for professional boxer only. Moreover, not many boxing promoter support female boxers as it not popular much in Professional boxing and there is a high risk of loss. However, boxing camp owner hope that there are some boxing promoters will be support female boxers and help them to push female boxers to have an opportunity to fight on the national stage for income of female boxers which most of their family have not good financial status. Most of female boxers was fight for their income to reduce the burden on the family. Therefore, the government or related organization should promote female boxers to enhance in to national level.
