Basic Characteristics of Daily Deals Offers in Hotel Industry
Abstract
In the recent years hospitality industry has been focusing on exploiting internet technologies to develop new approaches for hotels in order to improve the effectiveness of offering their services to customers and increase their occupancy. One of such phenomenon striving to foster online salesare the Daily Deal (DD) websites, which nowadays represent an important distribution channel for hotels. Nevertheless, not many studies can be found in the literature focusing on revelling the nature and features of the DDs. Thus, this paper aims to provide insights into the basic features of DD offers in the hotel industry based on data analysis. Within this study, one of the biggest DDs providers in the hospitality industry has been observed and data about several attributes have been gathered and analysed in order to identify characteristics that affect the buying decision of the customers. The preliminary findings reveal some interesting specifics and provide avenues for future research.
