Managing Resistance To Change - A Complexity Perspective

Abstract
Even though change becomes ever more important for organizations, empirical studies indicate that many changes fail due to resistance from organizational members. The article argues that resistance may look uniform in its manifest behavior, but will have many different motives. Understanding the complexity of motives is essential to efficient change management as different reasons for resistance to change should be met with different answers. The article outlines the ten most common reasons for resistance to change, as well as the appropriate management tools to tackle them. KeywordsOrganizational Change, Change Management, Resistance to Change, Leadership.
