A Semiotic Analysis of Emotional-Personified Characters in the Animation named Inside out
Abstract
In general, this qualitative study highlights on how the emotional characters in the famous animation named Inside out are personified as a human replica. Throughout a framework of gender stereotypes and personified characters have been conveyed and represented pragmatic meanings interrupted by social expectation regarding gender stereotypes. Not surprisingly, many activities processed in media have been counted as a symbol which audiences may understand those activities through their perception surrounded by gender and information that they are familiar with. In addition, this research will highlight on the pragmatic meanings which is represented through the activities of each character. To sum up, the study found that all personified characters carry many pragmatic meanings which govern our social expectation. Moreover, gender and ideology still overspread on our society, especial in the mainstream media. All personified characters distinctly represent how humans expect on the roles of gender and label on what people should respond through their gender.
