Paper Title
Empowerment of Traditional Chicken Slaughterhouse in Jampang Village, West Java, Indonesia
Abstract
Jampang Village has traditionally managed chicken slaughterhouses (CSH). However, some problems are still found in those CSH. The process of slaughtering either butchering chickens has not yet paid attention to methods that prioritize sanitation and meets the standards. The equipment used are not guaranteed their sanitation and the slaughtering or butchering rooms that are not yet feasible; they are united with the family kitchen of the CSH’s owners. Waste without management has the potential to cause a decrease in environmental quality that can affect the health of local residents such as gastrointestinal diseases and dermatitis. The plan is to implement a program to improve the layout of the production space, processing chicken feather waste into chicken feather flour, processing chicken manure into organic fertilizer, and structuring the CSH environment to be healthy, beautiful, and comfortable. The results obtained are the achievement of improvements in the production space layout with the method of u-shaped systematic layout planning (SLP), processing chicken feather waste into chicken feather flour, processing chicken manure into fertilizer, and planting valuable plants for families around the CSH.
