Qualitative Rating of Insurance Agencies: An Analysis on Turkish Insurance Sector

Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to make a rating according to qualitative characteristics of insurance agents. To put it more clearly, to create a 5-star agency class based on universal and measurable norms. The aim is to set a single top target point and create an evaluation scale in which some agencies may have a 5-star agency certificate.In the first stage of data collection, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 7 participants consisting of executives of non-governmental organizations, agencies and insurance companies with high representation power. In the light of the information obtained from the interviews, criteria for qualitative scoring and classification of agencies were determined.In the second stage, interviews were conducted with 40 participants with high representative power, high experience, intellectual level, vision and reputation, and were asked to weight the determined criteria. At the end of the study, weighted qualitative categories were established for the authorities. Reference limits are set for these categories. In the light of these data, a scale has been prepared in order to ensure that insurance agencies with a certain quality can have 5-star agency certificate.
