Paper Title
Evaluation of Road Traffic Noise and Regression Modeling of Traffic Noise in Patna City
Abstract
Noise pollution, in the current circumstances, has been all around perceived as one of the significant anxieties that effect the personal satisfaction in urban regions over the world. Patna, the capital city of Bihar has confirmed an extremely fast development in urbanization which brought about expanded interest for transportation and finally it brought about expanded rate of noise pollution. Here the noise levels have been evaluated for two long stretch roads for three time intervals on one side of the street at an interval of 5minutes. The number of vehicles have been counted. Prediction model of Noise is done in this paper. Multiple Regressions Method is used for the model development. The maximum noise level is obtained during 5:00 PM-6:00 PM for all nine locations. The minimum noise level is obtained during the morning hours 9:30AM-10:30AM for all location except Kendriya Vidyalaya and Patna Zoo. For these two locations the minimum noise level is at 1:00 PM-2:00 PM. These results show that evening hours 5:00PM-6:00PM is dominating the traffic noise for all locations. Here two wheelers dominate traffic volume (64.21%), while percentage of three wheelers (15.20%) is the second large on traffic count scale. The R2 value is 0.858 which represents good estimation for better prediction quality. Hence, the model can be used for predicting noise level at similar roads in India.
