Four-Bar Mechanism Hybrid Synthesis for Path and Function Generation using Genetic Algorithm
Abstract
This work provides an optimal hybrid task synthesis for four-bar mechanism using genetic algorithm (GA) for the applications that need a hybrid path and function generation synthesis with a simple matrix approach. The purpose of path generation is to synthesize a mechanism that passes through or approximate prescribed coupler path, and in function generation is to create an output motion that is a specified function of the input motion. The design was optimized using a Genetic Algorithm (GA) with MATLAB toolbox, which increased the accuracy. The result shows a comparable agreement between the prescribed and achieved coupler points, crank and follower angles, and also demonstrates the possibility of hybrid synthesis between path and function generation together.
