Comparison of lipid profile of Non–Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus Type2 (NIDDM T2) Patients with healthy people Ajdabia City, Libya
Abstract
The aims of the study to find out the differences in the lipid profile among non-insulin–dependent diabetes mellitus NIDDM type 2 patients and healthy people. The level of lipids (total cholesterol, beneficial cholesterol, harmful cholesterol and triglycerides in serum ) of NIDDM type 2 patients are determine, and compared with healthy group.100 blood specimens from diabetics patients NIDDM type 2 and 100 blood specimens from healthy people were examined at Al-Medina laboratory for medical analysis at Ajdabia. Results: The results showed a highly significant difference in total cholesterol, triglyceride and risky lipid level for patients comparing with healthy people(p <0.001). Further, there was a decrease in High Density Lipoprotein for patients. Conclusion: high lipid levels among NIDDM type 2 patients which put them at higher risk of developing coronary hearth diseases and stroke and other vascular diseases. The investigators recommend good glycemic control and life style changes for NIDDM type 2 may be effective in improving the diabetic dyslipidemia syndrome .
