Paper Title
Assessing the Impact of Local Climate on the Building Energy Design: Case Study Algeria-Egypt in Hot and Dry Regions
Abstract
Climate has always a significant impact on the building design and energy consumption. Worldwide, it is having been found various architectural design typologies depending on the climate type. Being aware of meteorological parameters is considered as one of the main design processes in any building design; many strategies have been classified based on the zonal climate type, to adapt the building to its environment. This study aims to investigate the local climate impact on the building performance design, it is focused on analyzing the building energy demand in the same climate zone type in a different region (Minia city -Egypt and Biskra city- Algeria), and both located in hot and dry climate zone. This research is based on quantitative climatic data using a dynamic simulation tool Vi-suite Add on Blender 3D. The results revealed that considering only the climate zone type during the designing process is not sufficient but an accurate analysis of the building in its local climate is necessary in order to apply effective climatic design strategies.
