Problems in Writing French of Thai Students Learning French as a Foreign Language

Abstract
This qualitative research aims to 1) investigate problems in writing French of Thai Students learning French as a foreign language and 2) to suggest teaching guidelines for French writing development of Thai learners. The study collects database from 40 students’ writing and uses thematic analysis.The result shows 4 different problems which are 1) structure problem (SP) 2) grammatical problem (GP) 3) Wording problem (WP) and 4) meaning problem (MP). The key points of error occurrence in writing are L1 interference and the lack of writing skill of learners. The researcher proposes some guidelines for the improvement in French writing of Thai learners by applying some teaching technics such as 1) writing process approach and 2) peer review approach.
