Paper Title
Efficient IoT Data Locality in Cloud Storage
Abstract
Internet of Things (IoT) has been widely applied in various domains, e.g. environmental monitoring, intelligent transport system, video surveillance, etc. In most of IoT applications, IoT data is usually periodically generated with different IoT subsets. In this paper, we propose an efficient approach to provide locality storage for all IoT subsets in cloud storage. In our approach, a data structure is used to depict the IoT subset distribution. Based on the IoT subset distribution information, we can easily calculate the storage capacity demand for each IoT subset. In the aspect of storage allocation, most cloud storage systems consider space usage balance while performing allocation. The allocated storage blocks usually forms a random number of disjoint storage segments. In our approach, the locality storage is achieved by placing each IoT subset within a storage segment. Finally, we perform experiments to demonstrate the effectiveness of our IoT cloud storage approach.
