Enhancing the Compliance of the HSSE Procedures at Kuwait Oil Company's Gas Facilities
Abstract
Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) is a major subsidiary of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, a world supplier of energy. KOC’s responsibilities include the Exploration, Drilling, and production of oil and gas within the State of Kuwait. All of the company’s activities have the potential for both positive and negative affect on health & safety of the employees and the environment. The company is committed to manage these effects and the risks associated with its activities and products. In this regards, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policies and Management System has been established and designed as a comprehensive set of requirements that sets a framework for both management and personnel to achieve the HSE goals and targets. The HSEMS is a two-part system consisting of the employees’ behavioral practices as well as the written documentation in a collaborative effort to excel in HSE performance. In spite of Company’s approach, in maintaining the Indoor Air Quality and Noise performances among the employees as well as the operational activities, The Staff periodically carry out Series of Surveys at KOC’s Facilities and the objectives of these surveys are the following:
1. To implement effective compliance on KOC HSEMS Procedure
2. To identify the Areas where employees are likely to be exposed to high levels of Noise and evaluate the hazards potentially affect the indoor air quality
3. To provide specific and feasible recommendations to improve indoor air quality and to reduce noise exposure.
This paper focuses on the Indoor Air Quality and Noise Surveys at KOC’s Gas Facilities and analysis of the measured data during the surveys. Finally, the control measures and the recommendations that have been addressed in order to reduce the noise and monitor the IAQ.
