Abstract
Posyandu is held monthly by the cadres who voluntarily dedicate themselves and undertake the activities in posyandu. The active role of cadres influences the optimal quality and number of community participation in posyandu. However, some studies show that posyandu has been considered lack of skilled cadres. This study aimed to identify the effect of a training to the changes of cadres’ knowledge. This research was an evaluation study with a quasi-experimental approach towards the training that was followed by 69 cadres from 12 villages/posyandu in North Minahasa District (batch 1) and 62 cadres from 11 villages/posyandu in Bitung City, North Sulawesi Province (batch 2). Training activities in each study area lasted in 3 days with a duration of training was 6 hours/day. The result of this study showed that there was an increase in cadres’ knowledge score about the implementation and function of posyandu, the concept of the first 1000 days of life, the procedure of anthropometric measurement, and the principal of balanced nutrition. The maximum score achieved by both batches was 86.8. The average increase in post-test score was 26.0 point (67%) for batch 1 and 17.6 point (44%) for batch 2.
