Designing the Role of Teachers in the Development of Emotional and Spiritual Intelligence (ESQ) as Character Building of Elementary School Students
Abstract
This paper presents the design of the role of teachers in the development of emotional and spiritual intelligence as the character building of elementary school students. The problem focus examines the teacher's role, supporting factors and barriers in developing emotional and spiritual intelligence (ESQ). The method used is descriptive method with a library study approach. Data collection techniques use written source collection methods that support the topic of the problem. Data analysis techniques use three main components, namely data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results of data excavation show that the role of the teacher in developing emotional and spiritual intelligence includes the development of attitudes of consistency (istiqomah), humility (tawadu’), resignation (tawakkal), sincerity (ikhlas) and integrity and refinement (ihsan). Supporting factors include facilities and infrastructure, as well as a comfortable and conducive environment. The barrier factor is influenced by the limited time of meeting in class, the implementation of written assessments and the lack of motivation and attention from parents.
