Paper Title
Catalyst Activity of TCA/ZEOLITE Y In The α-Pinene Esterification Reaction Becomes Bornyl Acetate

Abstract
Indonesia is one of the world's exporters of gondorukem and turpentine. Alpha pinena as the main product of turpentine can be used as a raw material to produce several compounds using an acid catalyst. One of the α-pinene product compounds namely bornyl acetate which is an ester α-pinene esterification compound uses an acid catalyst. The acid catalyst used can be either homogeneous or herterogenous. Heterogeneous catalysts that can be used such as zeolite Y. The acidity of the catalyst greatly influences the results of the reaction so that the development of TCA into zeolite Y is expected to increase the acidity of the catalyst. Characterization of the catalyst using X-Ray Diffraction and IR spectrophotometer. The esrification reaction product was analyzed by IR spectrosphotometer and gas Chromatograpy-Mass Spectroscopy. The main product of α-pinena esterification reaction was bornyl acetate (1.802%), and the selectivity of 40,11%, produced at 40℃ for 1 hour and with reactant mole ratio between α-pinene and acetic acid anhydride 1: 30.
