International Student Spending Trends and the Impact of the City Economy: The Case of Eskisehir, Turkey

Abstract
The phenomenon of globalization offers opportunities for students to find opportunities in other countries that they cannot reach in their own countries. International students are mobilizing towards countries that are higher in terms of economic and educational qualifications with globalization. This mobility is important not only for the students, but also for the countries where they are located for educational purposes. Many studies show that international students can be an indicator of economic and social development of the country where they are located. In this study, the effect of international student mobility on the urban economy is investigating. Thus, the aim of this study is to determine the spending tendencies of international students and to show their contribution to the city economy they are studying from Eskisehir example. For this purpose, data were collected from 100 international students who were educated in Eskisehir in 2017-2018 academic year with questionnaire technique. The data were collected with a structured questionnaire consisting of 42 questions to determine their income and expenses as well as personal information. Obtained data will be interpreted by descriptive analysis method. The research is in the process of analyzing the data. Keywords - International Student, Spending, City Economy, Eskisehir
