A Cinematic adaptation of Mirza Hadi Ruswa's Umarao Jaan ada as Mahendi film of 1958.

Abstract
This research paper is a study of film adaptation from Mirza Hadi Ruswa’s “Umarao Jaan Ada”. There are several adaptations of this particular novel for the film in India. Firstly adapted by S.M.Yusuf and directed by A.A.Nadiyadwala in 1958. After that, that same story was also adapted by Muzaffar Ali and produced by him in 1981 and then in 2006 J.P.Dutta adapted the story to make his celebrated movie “Umarao Jaan”. This research paper is about the study of the film adaptation of Mirza Hadi Ruswa’s “Umarao Jaan Ada” as Mahendi film of 1958. The study includes the definition of cinematic adaptation and comparison between the novel and film. There are always some technical and nontechnical limitations in the adaptation process. And this paper also focuses on the limitations of making a film from a literary story. The basic aim is to study and investigate the limits and problems of cinematic adaptation of a successful literary piece of art. Finally, study focuses to find out how a particular piece of art gets a new transformation when it gets molded into a different form of art.
