Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to find out whether the use of web-enabled teaching-learning significantly improves the primary school students’ scholastic performance and to compare the effectiveness of the traditional classroom teaching-learning with the web-enabled (using internet) teaching-learning using pre-test and post-test measurements. This study adopted experimental design (pre-test post-test) for the collection of data. A sample of 100 primary school students from Purba Bardhaman district (in India) was selected randomly. The data were analyzed using different statistical methods- descriptive and inferential statistics. Students in the treatment group (or experimental group) also completed a survey where a questionnaire regarding perceptions and attitudes toward web-based learning was applied. The data were analyzed using χ2 test. The results depicted that the use of web-enabled learning significantly impacted students’ scholastic performance from pre-test to the post-test. The findings of the study revealed that the effectiveness of Web-enabled learning in primary school classroom was better than that of the traditional teaching-learning. The study also revealed that online teaching-learning had a distinct positive impact on students’ learning. Keywords - Traditional Teaching-learning, Online Learning, Internet. Web-enabled Learning.
