Paper Title
Congestion Management Systems : A Survey of Numerous Sensing Technologies of Vehicles Detection using Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract
Nowadays, the massive population growth in urban areas represents the enormous challenge for road traffic management. Traffic congestion has a number of negative consequences and is a major problem in today's society. With an increasing number of vehicles on the road, demand for smart transportation systems is on the rise. Government and policy makers today confront the pressing challenge of managing road congestion in urban regions. Various techniques have been deployed to overcome this chaos. Many systems are being developed to improve traffic safety and management. Decreasing road traffic congestion can be achieved through effective management strategies and optimization. Wireless Sensor network (WSN) is a leading edge technology and has great potential to be employed in critical situations. This paper presents an overview of the sensing evolution, the sensors available in the market and its strengths and weakness and their classification. Moreover, the characteristics of the general sensor node and the hierarchical functionality of a WSN-based urban traffic management system. Our work focuses the overview of each technology and compares them based on evaluation parameters. Keywords - Traffic Congestion Management System, Sensors, Wireless Networks, Optimization.
