Paper Title
Coconut Fibres With Decorative Furniture
Abstract
Coconut is a native plant that lives with Thailand and many countries in the world. In the area along the equator. The coconut husk is the part of the coconut which found around the outer shell. The fibrous husks have a number of uses. When the husks are burnt, they form a good mosquito repellent. When the husk is soaked in salt water, the fibres are separated to produce coir. The coir is a natural fibre made from coconut is used to make all kinds of household items such as rope, brushes, string, mats, coarse clothes and much more. In other parts of the world, it’s used for stuffing mattresses, too. The coconut fiber or coir is Lignocellulose. Coir is the fibrous material found between the hard, internal shell and the outer coat of a coconut. It has toughness, lightness, straight, long and slender. This fibre have not been utilized benefit. Therefore, I think that can be added to the value of agricultural waste by being used as the main material in material development through the extrusion process and study of coconut fibre or coir for decorative furniture. That is another process of education to develop agricultural waste materials as a guideline for creating, creating products and as an alternative to using renewable materials. This study divide the type of coir fibres 3 types are type A1: the coir fibres mix with latex glue the mixing ratio 1: 1 (coir fibres: latex glue). Type A2: the coir fibres mix with coconut husk and latex glue the mixing ratio 1: 1: 1. Type A3: the coir fibres mix with coconut husk and latex glue the mixing ratio 1: 2: 1. This research study 3 experiment by the experiment 1: Study of production methods by applied materials from the tall cultivars coconut found that all of the coir fibres 3 type are soft, flexible and can be mold furniture products. Experiment 2: Experiments for weight gain, tensile strength and elasticity of coir fibres. I found that all of the coir fibres 3 type are gain the weight of 1 kg while, type 1 and 2 can be deflection but type 3 cannot deflection. The tensile strength found that Type A1 the material style is highly flexible, bend and does not damage the material. This material has high adhesion strength and high tensile strength. The elasticity of coir fibres found that the suitable material for furniture products is type A1 because its high flexibility, bend and does not damage. This material has high adhesion strength, high tensile strength and high elasticity. Therefore, when studying from the properties of coconut fiber which is characterized by long, sticky and resistant. Coir can be used as the main material in the development of materials for create product. It can be made into a sheet of structural wrap to be a furniture product with the texture and unique of coconut fibre that able to use the local technology in the production process. This causing economic development and new material products.
