Paper Title
Teaching Introductory Engineering Courses Online: Challenges and Outcomes

Abstract
Teaching introductory engineering courses online is really challenging and highly demanding. The students are looking for appropriate and relaxed environment to learn difficult concepts and to realize practical designs. Introductory engineering courses are designed to senior students in high school or students in first year of engineering who need special tools that help them to thoroughly understand the subject. A combination of traditional face-to-face laboratory sessions and on-line resources is used to develop this course. The Desire2Learn (D2L) is used as an online learning system where all course materials are available to either download or print out including lectures notes, video clips, tutorials, homework assignments and, in addition, students work grades. To achieve the course outcomes, active learning modules are developed and assessed to elevate students’ understanding level.
