Effect of Adding Different Levels of Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) Powder in The Production Performance of Laying Hens (Hy-Line Brown)

Abstract
This study was conducted at the poultry farm, Department of Animal Resources, Tikrit University for the period 17/2/2018 to 8/6/2018. The experiment was aimed to investigating theeffect of adding different levels of Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) powder in the production performance of Laying Hens (Hy-Line Brown). In the experiment 300 laying hens (Hy-Line Brown)at the age of 53 weeks were used. Hens were assigned randomly on 5 treatments three replicate for each treatment, 20 hens for each replicates.Experimental treatments were as follow: T1(Control diet)without supplement, while the treatments T2,T3,T4 and T5 were Supplemented with 1, 1.5, 2 and 2.5 g CLA/kg diet respectively. The diets were given in a ground form. The lighting program and the water supplementing regime were performed according to (guides for laying hen /Hy-Line Brown). The results showedsignificant increase in the fifth treatment compared to the first treatment and the third treatment in the production of eggs and the number of eggs cumulative and egg mass, this was followed by second and fourth treatments. The results showed a significant decrease in egg weight in all treatments fed on diets, which included the Conjugated Linoleic acid (CLA) in its composition, especially the second, fourth and fifth treatments except for the third treatment compared to the first and third treatments. It can be concluded that increasing the addition of CLA will increase the production of eggs, the number of eggs cumulative as well as the mass of eggs with low weight of eggs.
