Paper Title
Preparation Of Hydrogels From Energy Cane Bagasse Cellulose Fibers
Abstract
Energy cane is now recognized as a dedicated bioenergy crop that can be successfully grown on marginal lands without competing for land and water to prime crops and lands. Bagasse is a byproduct of processing and often underutilized. This study aimed to develop hydrogel from energy cane bagasse cellulose fiber as a value-added product. An alternative approach was tested to demonstrate that hydrogel can potentially be obtained from micron sized cellulose fibers instead of classically used cellulose nanofibers which requires complex procedures and toxic solvents. Further testing and experimentation are required to validate the stability of the hydrogel.
