Lexical Poverty: The Preponderance Of So And Very In Students Oral And Written Outputs

Abstract
Lexical poverty is manifested by a repetition of words observed in most students’ learning tasks. Students tend to have a limited range of linguistic resources – either they misuse them or overuse them. They over rely on the use of the words particularly modifiers that shows that the students have few words at their disposal for comprehension and production.The study analyzes the preponderance of so and very in the students’ written outputs and analyzes the level of lexical poverty manifested.
