Paper Title
Biomechanical Modelling of Functional Intimate Apparel to Treat Scoliosis

Abstract
There are few studies that have investigated the effectiveness of flexible braces for treating scoliosis by using a biomechanical model. This study thereforedevelops3D skeletal, torso, and flexible brace (functional intimate apparel (FIA)) models for finite element analysis.A model of theskeleton whichincludes the vertebral body, intervertebral discs, ribcage, and pelvis, and a model of the torso, as well as a model of the FIA have been developed. Simulation of theuseof the FIAis conducted. The preliminary results show that the right thoracic region is subjected to relatively high pressure, which causesthe body totilt upwardstowards the left side. The resultscoincide with the application of padding to induce the corrective forces. Index Terms - Scoliosis, Finite Element Model, Flexible Brace, Functional Intimate Apparel
