The Effect of Learning Process Arrangement based on Research-Based Learning in the Management of Geography in School Course

Abstract
The main purpose of this study was1) to study the impacts of utilizing research-based learning to Management of Geography in School Course on students’ learning outcomes in Faculty of Education, a public university, in Thailand and 2) to study the students’ satisfaction on research-based learning (RBL) in Management of Geography in School Course. A one-shot case study design was conducted to explore Social Studies students’ knowledge, practical skills, and satisfaction regarding the impact on their learning outcomes of Management of Geography in School Course after the intervention of research-based learning. The target group consisted of 31 third-year Social Studies students who enrolled in Management of Geography in School Course during the second semester of the 2018 academic year. Research instruments included: 1)32hours research-based learning plans, 2) Three items subjective test of knowledge and understanding about the survey research design 3) the instrument for evaluating of practical skill and 4) 10 items of 5 level of rating scales for evaluating the students’ satisfaction. Data were analyzed by using the statistics including percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Findings of the study indicated that 1) 25 students or 80.64 percent of students have passed the criteria of passing score as 70 percent or more of their knowledge related to research-based learning with the mean score 46.50 or 77.50percent. In addition, the overall practical skills of students were at good level, 23 students or 74.19 percent of students have passed the criteria of passing score as 70 percent or more of their practical skills related to research-based learning with the mean score 21.10 or 88.40percent and 2) the students’ satisfaction on research-based learning (RBL) in Management of Geography in School Course were at very good level.
