Either Social Media or Traditional Media to Alleviate Indignation and Shame for Female Celebrities

Abstract
This article provides an assessment of social media as emotional communication outlet in the United States for the 100 female celebrities who suffer from the feelings of humiliation due to the iCloud nude photo leak scandal in September 2014, including Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, and Victoria Justice. This article indicates that while celebrities in crisis tend to either use traditional media such as newspapers and TV outlets to respond to public inquiry or hide themselves away until public attention fades away, social media serves as a new medium in alleviating their psychological humiliation in defensive but active mechanism in emotional communication. This article offers a conceptual link between celebrity humiliation and media functions as emotional communication outlet. Keywords - iCloud, Twitter, 2014, Photo Leaks.
