Hypercrosslinked Poly(DVB-VBC) Particles Functionalized with Tris(2-aminoethyl)amine

Abstract
The preparation of poly(4-vinylbenzyl chloride-co-divinylbenzene) PolyHIPEs functionalized with tris(2-aminoethyl)amine are presented. Porous polymer particles were synthesized using the water-in-oil (W/O) emulsion polymerization and Friedel-Crafts reaction using a Lewis acid catalyst. Polymers were functionalized with tris(2-aminoethyl)amine with high degrees of conversion. The extent of the functionalization reactions was investigated by a range of qualitative and quantitative techniques: FTIR, CHN analysis, potenciometric measurmensts, and (BET) measurements have been performed.
