Paper Title
Glass Ceilings Across Occupations in Korea: A Quantile Decomposition Approach

Abstract
Using a quantile decomposition method, this paper investigates the existence of glass ceilings on white-collar and blue-collar jobs in Korea. Glass ceilings in the quantile decomposition indicate that the gender wage gap widens towards the top of the wage distribution, with women facing barriers to further advancement. Our decomposition results show that glass ceilings may be more likely to occur in blue-collar jobs. Additionally, reflecting occupational gender segregation in the workplace, we divide into male dominated, female dominated, and mixed occupations. In this case, glass ceilings are found in the female-dominated occupations even white-collar jobs. Hence, from the occupational point of view, our results suggest that glass ceilings are blue-collar and female-dominated phenomena in the Korean labor market.
