Paper Title
Determination Of Optimal Conditions For Removal Of Isoproturon And Oxytetracycline By Ferrate (IV) Oxidation

Abstract
Pesticides and pharmaceuticals are organic compounds of high chemical stability. They are designed to be resistant to biological removalas well as to the sunlight degradation. Therefore, technologies used in primary and secondary wastewater treatment are not efficientin removing of these compounds.Accordingly, alternative methods are neededfor their effective removal. One of possibilities is treatment by ferrate(VI) ion, [FeO4]2-, a chemical compound that simultaneously exhibits oxidation, disinfection and coagulation properties. The aim of thestudy was to investigate the removal of pesticideisoproturon and pharmaceutic oxytetracycline by ferrate(VI) oxidation. The influence of two basic process parameters:the oxidant’s concentration and solution’s pH value, on the removal-efficiency was examined during the study. Two related mathematical models (one for each pollutant) were developed by applying multiple linear regression on the experimental data and the optimal removal-conditions were determined. The analysis of the variance indicated that both examined parameters were significant for removal of isoproturon whilepH-value manifested as insignificant for removal of oxytetracycline.
