National and International Alliance For GURIA Tourism Development

Abstract
Guria is one of the regions of Western Georgia (The Republic of Georgia) borderingthe Black Sea,Adjara, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Imereti, and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti. Geographical location, charming landscape, culture and traditions, cuisine, Gurian dialect and humor, three-voice polyphonic songs, the first Gurian horse riders at Wild West Show of popular Buffalo Bill Cody in 19c in USA, seaside and mountain resorts, museums give the birth to mesmerizing feelings that still arise interest and bring visitors backfor the last 5 years. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, bad social-economic conditions and unstable political situation in 80-90s had been a big challenge for the whole country and Guria region as well, it took years for further development. The article deals with research project results that had/has been implemented for overcoming the problems. The first attempts were stepped forward bythe municipalities -Chokhatauri, Ozurgeti, Lanchkhuti and later supported by LNGO Tourism & Reality, IBDIPC and The European Commission in order to stand for the establishment of multi-stakeholder partnerships aimed at a promotion of sustainable and inclusive growth at local level via the project:,,Participatory Charrette for the Tourism Development Strategy of Guria”.
