China’s Policy Towards its Muslim Minorities: The Case of Uyghur

Abstract
The article explains China’s domestic policy towards its Muslim and minority populations separately. Uyghur is Turkic speaking Muslim minority in China and has been suffering from China’s harsh restriction. The recent rise of violent incidents in Xinjiang further entailed Beijing to adopt austere regulation on Uyghur’s religious right, which causes great concern in the global Muslim community. Just like Uyghur, Hui is the biggest Muslim minority in China, however, they are not subjected to the same policy as Uyghur has been suffering from. At the end of the article, we will try to explain the reasons behind that. Key Words - Uyghur, China, İslam
