Paper Title
Performance Comparison of Xilkernel And C/OS-II On Microblaze
Abstract
Soft core processors are increasingly used in embedded system designs based on Field Programmable Gate Array
(FPGA) devices. Real time operating systems (RTOS) play an important role in design of embedded systems using
microcontroller or microprocessors. MicroBlaze is a soft processor core designed for use with Xilinx FPGA device families.
This paper compares the performance of RTOSs Xilkernel and C/OS-II on a MicroBlaze soft core processor. Performance
comparison is based on time taken for Context Switching Time between tasks, Message passing between task, Allocation and
Release of memory blocks and Memory Footprint, which are measured through simple software based technique.
