Paper Title
Qatars Environment And Development

Abstract
Rapid population growth and increased urbanisation in developing countries have given rise to concerns about sustainable development. The primary concern is the impact of globalisation on over-populated areas in the developing world, which are simultaneously places where products are produced and consumed. The Arab Middle East faces environmental issues due to economic growth and development from oil production and population growth, which has contributed to, increased energy consumption. Qatar has come to the realisation that it is unable to sustain its economic growth through reliance on oil alone and has implemented a policy for sustainability, which should diversify Qatars economy and lead the region in sustainability by the year 2030. This paper will examine Qatars environmental issues and development toward addressing those issues. Results indicate that Qatar is determined to implement sustainable development practices that both address tradition and modernisation. However, there is still much work to be done.
