Paper Title
Textile Finishing of Abaca Fibers

Abstract
Abaca fibers, obtained from the leaves of Abaca plant, have been used in the textile industry and many different industrial fields for many years. This fiber is also commercially known as Manila hemp fiber. These fibers, exhibiting superior mechanical properties, are widely accepted as a good textile material. It is known that abaca fiber is one of the most resistant natural fiber because of its high strength performance property. Furthermore, this fiber has become a preferred material in the production of composites thanks to its good properties such as biodegradability and eco-friendly nature. Some textile finishing processes can be applied to abaca fiber in order to increase the usability of the abaca fibers for different application types. In the case of coloration process, natural dyes are generally more preferred dye types for abaca fibers. In this paper, finishing application process types to abaca fibers were examined in detail.
