The Names of Princess Suddhasininat Piyamaharaj Padivaradda’s Royal Thai Cuisine

Abstract
This study aims to classify the types of dishes and to find out how to construct the names of the cuisine. The data collected from a two-volume book entitled Chiwit Nai Wang or ‘Life in the Royal Court’. Thirty-for dishes are analyzed and classified into seven types of food: curry, chili sauce, boiled soup, snacks, stir-fry, spicy salad and stewed in brown sauce. In addition, the names of the dishes are formed in seven ways as followings: loan word, name or type of food with its origin, name or type of food with its ingredients, name or type of food with its modifier, name or type of food with the method of cooking, name with reference to past event and special name.
