Students’ Information Consciousness Through Service Delivery in University of Lagos, Nigeria

Abstract
The study focused on how service delivery can be used to enhance students’ information consciousness and sustainability of universities. It highlights the sources of information, responsive utilization methods and enabling service environment that supports undergraduate students’ information consciousness and responsiveness. The study was guided by three research questions. The scope of the study covers undergraduate full time students in the University of Lagos and students’ information consciousness relate to academic administrative and social information. A descriptive cross sectional research design was adopted and the stratified random sampling technique was used to select a sample of 587 out of 26,851 undergraduate full time students in eight faculties. The questionnaire was used for data collection and answers to the research questions were analyse using percentages and represented in graphs. The study offers insight into the importance of information to students and the academic community and how students seek information relevant to their needs. This study is part of an on-going project on Student Information Management as critical success factor for university effectiveness.
